Preliminary Investigation Completed: What Awaits Hovik Abrahamyan’s Brother? — Zhoghovurd

The Zhoghovurd daily newspaper writes:
“Zhoghovurd” daily newspaper has learned that the Anti-Corruption Committee has declared the preliminary investigation completed in the criminal case initiated against Henrik Argami Abrahamyan, the brother of former Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan.
Let us recall that Henrik Abrahamyan has been charged with having, back in the distant years of 2015–2016, assisted Eduard Zaveni Hakobyan, who held the position of head of the Maramarashen community in Armenia’s Ararat Province, by removing obstacles, in using his official position contrary to the interests of the service, motivated by other personal interests, thereby causing particularly large-scale property damage in the amount of 25,990,635 Armenian drams to the legitimate interests of the Maramarashen community.
According to exclusive information obtained by Zhoghovurd daily newspaper, the brother of former Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan, Henrik (Jonik) Abrahamyan, gave a self-incriminating testimony at the Anti-Corruption Committee. He subsequently restored 26 million drams as part of the damage caused in the proceedings.
According to Zhoghovurd daily newspaper, taking these circumstances into account, the Anti-Corruption Committee selected a travel ban as the preventive measure against Henrik Abrahamyan.
It should be noted that this is not the first time Henrik Abrahamyan has come under the attention of law enforcement authorities. Over the years, he has headed the Artashat wine factory, and from 1999 to 2008, he was a member of the National Assembly. His name has been linked to several companies operating in the wine and construction materials production sectors, as well as fish farming, including Artashat Vincon, Jas-Beton Shin, and Mary Fish.
In 2018, Henrik Abrahamyan was arrested in connection with a case involving the discovery of a large quantity of weapons and ammunition in the area of Mkhchyan. In 2022, the court found him guilty of illegally acquiring and possessing weapons and ammunition, sentencing him to two years of imprisonment. However, following the application of an amnesty, he was released from serving his sentence.”
