Anna Grigoryan on Pashinyan’s Fight Against Oligarchs: “Now They Have Become Civil Contract Members”

Anna Grigoryan, a member of parliament from the Armenia faction, has criticized Nikol Pashinyan’s government, stating that the authorities, who previously spoke about fighting oligarchs and the criminal-oligarchic system, are now cooperating with representatives of the former authorities.

“Nikol Pashinyan used to come here and say that we must fight against oligarchs, against the criminal-oligarchic system. One of those people is the man who used to sit here; now he holds an umbrella over your heads, brings you fourth-grade wheat, and you go and take selfies with him one by one,” Grigoryan said, referring to Samvel Aleksanyan.

Addressing Ashot Arsenyan, the owner of Jermuk Group, the MP asked whether his son was a regional governor and recalled that in 2021 he had headed the pre-election headquarters of the Republicans in the I Have Honor alliance. Grigoryan emphasized that she had never been part of the government and had expressed her principled position.

According to her, some people who used state levers under the former authorities and accumulated their wealth have now become representatives of the Civil Contract party.

“Every Republican ‘ten-percenter’—excuse my language—is now working for Civil Contract. Isn’t that the case? Of course it is,” Anna Grigoryan declared, questioning the consistency of Pashinyan’s statements about fighting the former oligarchic system.
