What Assets Do Ararat Mirzoyan and His Wife Own?
The Zhoghovurd daily examined Ararat Mirzoyan’s asset and income declarations from recent years and uncovered a number of noteworthy details. It should be noted that Mirzoyan has served as Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs since August 19, 2021.
2024
ArmLur.am found that, according to Mirzoyan’s 2024 declaration, he owns a private house in the Nairi community of Kotayk Province, along with a plot of land and auxiliary structures, which he acquired on December 23, 2022. In addition, he owns an apartment in Yerevan, which he acquired in 2018.
His bank accounts held AMD 2.746 million and USD 22,000, while he had USD 37,000 and AMD 2.75 million in cash.
His income for the reporting year amounted to AMD 24.771 million, of which AMD 21.752 million was salary from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and AMD 3.018 million was a refund of income tax.
ArmLur.am also found that Mirzoyan made significant expenditures during the year. He spent AMD 16.8 million on property renovations alone. He also spent millions of AMD on recreation, education, and loan repayments.
His mortgage obligations amounted to AMD 26.643 million at the end of the year.
2023
According to ArmLur.am’s examination, in 2023 Mirzoyan had AMD 3.5 million and USD 30,000 in his bank accounts, while he held USD 50,000 and AMD 2 million in cash.
2022
ArmLur.am found that in 2022 Mirzoyan acquired the private house in Nairi community, Kotayk Province, valued at AMD 112 million.
That same year, his bank deposits amounted to USD 70,000. His accounts contained AMD 1.9 million and USD 20,000, while he held USD 25,000 and AMD 6 million in cash.
2021
According to ArmLur.am, in 2021 Mirzoyan had a USD 70,000 bank deposit, AMD 9.1 million and USD 70,188 in his accounts, as well as AMD 8 million in cash.
His Wife, Gohar Abajyan’s Declaration
ArmLur.am also examined the declaration of Ararat Mirzoyan’s wife, Gohar Abajyan.
In 2024, she acquired a BMW manufactured in 2024 for approximately EUR 39,000, while she sold her previous KIA vehicle for AMD 4.508 million.
Her income during the year amounted to AMD 46.301 million. She received salaries from NVIDIA Armenia and Cognizant Engineering.
Her bank holdings decreased during the year, while her cash amounted to USD 10,000 and AMD 340,000.
At the same time, she received an AMD 11 million loan, while her total loan obligations reached AMD 78 million at the end of the year.
It should also be noted that on June 4, 2025, the Zhoghovurd daily reported that Gohar Abajyan had been appointed head of Enterprise Armenia, an investment center.
Thus, ArmLur.am’s examination shows that Ararat Mirzoyan’s family has had income amounting to tens of millions of AMD in recent years and acquired a private house valued at AMD 112 million, while the family also made a significant purchase, with his wife buying a BMW worth EUR 39,000.
However, this raises a number of questions:
How do expenditures of this scale correspond with officially declared income?
What were the sources of the substantial cash holdings, amounting to tens of thousands of US dollars?
To what extent are such expensive purchases — both the private house and the vehicle — financially justified?
How can the combination of substantial loans, income, and significant expenditures at the same time be explained?
